The Paradise is easily the most ambitious film of Nani’s career so far. Made on a massive budget, the film is also an attempt to position Nani as a full-fledged mass star on the pan-India stage.
Nani has released films in multiple languages before, but those attempts largely felt like a formality. With The Paradise, the approach appears far more serious, backed by a large-scale production and a proper release across India and overseas.
Leading overseas distributor Prathyangira Cinemas is releasing the film in North America. Telugu premieres are scheduled for Wednesday, September 23, followed by the regular release on September 24.
The ticket pricing also appears reasonable. Telugu premiere tickets are priced at $20 for standard 2D, while regular Week 1 tickets will cost $17. Specialty formats will carry an additional $5 charge.
This is notable because even a recent lighthearted family entertainer like Vishwanath and Sons opted for $20 tickets. Despite its much bigger scale and budget, The Paradise has avoided aggressive pricing for its regular shows.
The Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada versions will not have premiere shows in North America. These versions will open with standard ticket pricing.
With a major overseas distributor, controlled pricing and a serious multilingual release plan, The Paradise is targeting to be Nani’s biggest attempt yet to expand his market beyond Telugu cinema and a mass star.
