There are a fair few theatrical releases today. In Telugu, we have Guntur Kaaram and HanuMan. In Tamil, two notable films, Captain Miller and Ayalaan released in theaters today.
Captain Miller is the obvious biggie here as it has Dhanush in the lead role and the film was mounted on a big scale. The trailer also looked very promising for this period action thriller.
However, much to the disappointment of cinema lovers, Captain Miller which showed good promise has underwhelmed big time. The film opened to largely negative reviews in the Tamil market. All the hype it had before the release has quickly evaporated with these negative reviews.
The reviews suggest that Dhanush did his part for the film with his refined performance but the lack of drive in the story has undone his good work. It is heard that barring the interval and a couple of other hero-driven sequences, the film disappoints big time.
All in all, negative reviews have flooded the much-hyped Captain Miller and it might find it tough going ahead this festival season. Other film, Ayalaan has opened to weak reviews, but that was expected all along.
As for Captain Miller, the Telugu dubbed version will be released on the 25th of this month. Considering the weak response for the original Tamil version, literally nothing might go its way in Telugu also. It could be a complete washout in Telugu.
