Nikhil’s next film is Spy and it is about Subhash Chandrabose’s death mystery. The movie is planned at a Pan-India level and the teaser released already spiked interest in the movie.
Spy was previously announced for June 29th release. The makers are in huge table profit as they almost recovered their budget from non-theatrical rights sale. They have some very attractive deals for theatrical release as well.
But then, the release date has become a problem now.
The producer was keen on June 29th release but the hero wants another date.
Apparently, there was a Special Block in the film which will be shot on June 15th and 16th. The block will also have VFX work to be done. Everything should be ready by the 23rd to apply for censor.
And then, there is less than 20 days time for the release. There are songs and the trailer to be released besides this shoot. Nikhil also wants to promote the film across the country.
The hero’s argument is that the time is too less and he can not compromise on the final output.
The producer does not want to miss the Bakrid holiday weekend as he fears the distributors will not pay the pre-agreed amount citing the same reason. Also, he does not want to spend much going forward because he already has guaranteed money and the laid-back attitude already set in.
The producer dropped a song from the film without the hero’s approval. The hero is disappointed about how it was dropped without necessary preparation and promotion. He did not even tweet about it.
Nikhil is adamant about releasing the film only after the product is completely ready and with perfect promotions. So, he is insisting on a postponement for a couple of weeks. Lets us see if both parties can reach an amicable conclusion.
