Not so good buzz on Krish’s Gabbar Is Back?

Sensible director Krish Jagarlamudi making his Bollywood debut is definitely a thing of pride for the Telugu Film Industry. It’s a remake of Chiranjeevi’s superhit film ‘Tagore’ (original film by Murugadoss ‘Ramana’ in Tamil). When the trailer of the Hindi remake was released recently, it seemed more a replication of the original movie.

Further, to add to the not so good buzz on the trailer content, it is now widely discussed that ‘Gabbar Is Back’ has shades of Bollywood classic movie ‘Sholay’. The antogonist character in ‘Sholay’ was Gabbar, a hard-core bandit who was portrayed as an embodiment of hatred and bloodthirsty visciousness. Using the iconical antogonist’s name for Krish’s film is giving away doubts if the Akshay Kumar starrer is the sequel of ‘Sholay’.

Telugu and Tamil audiences know that there is no actual similarity between ‘Tagore’ and Hindi classic ‘Sholay’ as we have no ‘Sholay’ to compare with. But for Bollywood audiences, the name Gabbar is synonymous with ‘Sholay’. Hence a situation has arised that the makers of movie need to plan promotions clarifying the rumours on sequel for ‘Sholay’ and how the characerisation of Gabbar is entirely different.
