There are certain things in cinema that only a certain SS Rajamouli can do and it is better left that way. Only he can create imagery that was hardly seen on big screens yet feels agonizingly close to reality.
By taking Rajamouli as an inspiration, a few young filmmakers are venturing to make VFX-driven films and this is only going to burn their hands.

The issue with VFX is that getting the desired emotion and keeping the Telugu masses is extremely difficult. For instance, Baahubali 2 is a VFX creation in itself, but more than the VFX imagery, it is the emotional narrative that drives the film. This is the kind of grip that is lacking in other directors.
Nag Ashwin was indeed able to create finessed imagery with Kalki but the emotional track was not viable enough.

When extensive CGI and VFX are used, the realism fades away and this is where a director’s storytelling skills are tested and more often than not, this is where most young directors falter and eventually get trolled.
Perhaps, other young crop of directors are better of leaving the VFX and CGI works and focusing on storytelling instead. Blending these two requires generational talent and sadly, not everyone is blessed with it.
