In less than 4 hours from now, RRR’s USA premieres will be commencing and the excitement has hit the pinnacle point. Meanwhile, Ormax, a leading media portal has shared a crucial report on RRR and Bollywood’s recent sensational blockbuster, The Kashmir Files.
In the report, Ormax, which is widely followed in Bollywood, bought down RRR’s opening figures (Hindi belt) from Rs 30 crores nett to Rs 18 crores. They said RRR might be losing around 45% of screens in Northern India to Kashmir Files.
Now, another leading box office tracking portal has contradicted Ormax’s report, saying RRR was never on course to release in 5000 screens or thereabouts. It also mentioned that the Rs 18 crores opening day nett is really tough, given the weak advance bookings and a lot will depend on the talk the film garners from the opening shows.
The said report adds that recent hits, Sooryavanshi and Gangubai Kathiawadi had weak advance bookings but they went on to become successful ventures after the current bookings picked up, following positive reviews and encouraging word of mouth. 83 still stands top on the list of highest-grossing openers in the Hindi belt.
The same might be the case with RRR in the Hindi belt as the word of mouth will play a decisive role in the film’s theatrical returns in the Northern circuit.
