Peddi 450-Crore BO Debate: Why Are Fans Still Unhappy?

Ram Charan Peddi collections debate

Box-office numbers have become one of the most debated topics in Tollywood. In an era where collections are often treated as the ultimate measure of success, many within the industry believe that reported figures are being highly inflated.

Against this backdrop, Peddi’s collections have become a major talking point after a Rs. 450 crore worldwide gross figure was mentioned at a national media event attended by Ram Charan in Delhi.

While welcoming Ram Charan onto the stage, the host described Peddi as one of the biggest hits in Telugu cinema and stated that the film had grossed Rs. 450 crores worldwide. The figure quickly attracted attention because it was mentioned on a national platform in Ram Charan’s presence.

However, according to trade analysts, Peddi may still be closer to the Rs. 350 crore mark worldwide rather than Rs. 450 crores. The gap between publicly projected numbers and trade calculations has therefore become a hot topic of discussion among fans.

Interestingly, despite the impressive figures associated with the film, a section of Mega fans is still not completely satisfied.

Before hitting theatres, many believed Peddi had the potential to become Ram Charan’s next Rs. 500 crores grosser. While the film performed better in the Telugu states, it underperformed in the US, North India, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. As a result, it could not achieve the kind of pan-India success many expected.

The film’s success event is being held today in Hyderabad, with Chiranjeevi and Sukumar attending as chief guests. However, some fans feel the success meet could have been held earlier, as it might have helped generate additional momentum during a crucial stage of the theatrical run.

With Ram Charan reportedly planning a short break before beginning work on RC17 with Sukumar, Peddi is expected to remain his latest release for quite some time.

And that may be one reason why some fans continue to discuss the film’s box-office journey. Despite its success, a section of them cannot help wondering what might have happened if Peddi had managed to cross that elusive Rs. 500 crore milestone.
