Tollywood’s theatrical business is hoping for a strong comeback after a long streak of flops and no proper releases, and all eyes are currently on Peddi, arriving in the first week of June. Ram Charan’s big-budget sports drama could become the film that brings momentum back to theatres.
If Peddi opens with strong word-of-mouth, it could dominate the box office for 2-3 weeks and create breathing space for theatrical business before the next wave of releases arrives.
Beyond June, attention is slowly shifting toward August, which initially appeared packed with notable releases. As things stand, Nani’s The Paradise remains scheduled for August 21, while Sharwanand’s Bhogi is targeting August 28. Both films could create an exciting late-August box office battle.
Meanwhile, Ravi Teja’s Irumudi is also emerging as a possible August contender. Directed by Shiva Nirvana, the film reportedly carries a father-daughter emotional backdrop blended with devotional elements. The project has generated positive curiosity, and promotions are expected to begin soon.
However, while these look good on paper, there is always a chance of a big reshuffle. This has been a major problem in Tollywood recently, with even medium-scale movies struggling to meet release dates. August may not remain as crowded as originally expected.
Two much-awaited August releases reportedly face delays, with one project potentially moving to September, while another may not arrive until the Dasara season depending on production timelines.
Another big July release could potentially shift into the Independence Day corridor if certain films fail to lock schedules on time.
One project closely watched in this equation remains Yash’s pan-India action film Toxic. After many delays, it was expected that Toxic could arrive during the Independence Day weekend, but uncertainty around timelines has reportedly created fresh calculations among distributors and producers.
Another film continuing to appear in speculation is Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara. There had been discussions around a possible August release, but industry observers currently believe it may still be too early to arrive at a clear conclusion.
An official announcement regarding Vishwambhara is still awaited.
With audience footfalls fluctuating and theatrical business trying to regain consistency, release timing has become more important than ever.
For now, Tollywood’s immediate focus remains June 4.
If Peddi clicks strongly, it could not only deliver a major success for Ram Charan but also restart momentum for an industry waiting for its next major box office wave.
