It is a common practice for actresses to first find themselves a career in the South Indian film industry and then gradually to Bollywood, which is the desired destination for them.
Case of Pooja Hegde is not different to this either as she initially started her career in Telugu Cinema and virtually ended up as a Bollywood heroine now.
However, the actress is in the news for a bad reason now as her earlier comment has now become relevant and lead to severe trolls on her on social media.
Earlier, while Pooja Hegde was a part of the Telugu film industry, she interacted with a Telugu news channel and said the South is obsessed with navels and midriffs. This is in tune with May such regressive comments made by such actresses in the past.
But what followed later was that Pooja Hegde had said Bollywood writes better roles for women as she appeared to look down on the South Indian film industry.
Now these interview videos are trending on social media as Pooja is currently a part of a Hindi film, which has its promotional material entirely surrounding navels and midriffs of herself and Mrunal Thakur.
Many social media users are commenting that Pooja does not have a problem about wearing bikini and exhibiting the same cliches that she pointed out about South while she’s doing a Bollywood film. But when it comes to South industry, she has a discrimination on the same. People are pointing out the double standards.
But it must also be noted that it is a creative choice for Pooja to pick whatever kind of role she wants and stick to it. But the earlier comment on the South film industry and its obsessions could have been avoided to escape the current controversy.
