This year has been a lot more dull than last year at the box office. In 2022, by now, we already had two 1000+ crore worldwide grossers, KGF 2 and RRR. But this year there has been only one and that is Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan (Rs. 1050 Crores) in January.
Prabhas’ Adipurush, if well made, had the best chance of crossing 1000 crores and even 2000 crores at the box office, but Om Raut completely failed to utilize the potential of Ramayana.
But the next few months are looking pretty exciting and there are 3-4 strong contenders that can gross 1000 crores at the box office.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan directed by Atleee has garnered huge hype since its announcement teaser was released. The film’s trailer is going to release this week. The openings are going to be phenomenal for this revenge action drama, and if the content clicks in a big way, then Jawan has a definite chance to hit the 1000-crore mark.
Prabhas’ is finally coming back to the genre in which his fans want to see him. Prashanth Neel’s Salaar is releasing in September and the teaser is going to be unveiled this week. Despite Radhe Shyam and Adipurush Prabhas’ craze is intact and if the film turns out to be kickass like the KGF series then the sky is the limit for this film at the box office.
Some Tamil fans are also expecting Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo to cross the Rs. 1000 crore mark. But Vijay’s market is very limited in the North and even in the Southern states other than Tamil Nadu. Even Overseas, his films have never crossed the 2 Million mark also. So, even if Leo gets a blockbuster talk, a 1000-crore grosser right now seems like a distant dream, but nothing is impossible.
Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 (Spy franchise) and Raj Kumar Hirani’s Dunki starring Shah Rukh Khan once again are also strong contenders to join the 1000-crore club.
