The makers of Prabhas’ Fauzi have officially locked December 3, 2026, as the film’s release date. The blood-soaked first poster has generated some excitement, with fans expecting Prabhas to bounce back strongly after The Raja Saab.
But the release calendar has suddenly become far more crowded.
Just a day later, on December 4, two major Hindi films are also scheduled to hit theatres. One is Ajay Devgn’s Ranger, directed by Jagan Shakti, while the other is Akshay Kumar’s remake of Sankrantiki Vastunnam, directed by blockbuster specialist Anees Bazmee.
That sets up a rare three-way box-office clash between Prabhas, Ajay Devgn, and Akshay Kumar.
What makes the situation even more interesting is what comes next.
Within two weeks, Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three are expected to arrive, bringing with them massive demand for premium screens, especially IMAX and multiplex properties. That leaves very little time for Fauzi, Ranger, and Akshay Kumar’s film to maximize their theatrical run. Whoever wins the opening fortnight will have a huge advantage.
Prabhas has experienced this before. Salaar clashed with Dunki, leading to one of the biggest box-office battles in recent years. While Shah Rukh Khan emerged the winner and Prabhas’ film also did well, trade circles believe the clash affected their Hindi market potential, with each film reportedly losing around Rs. 30-40 crore because audiences were split.
A similar risk exists this time as well.
Fauzi will depend heavily on the Hindi market to justify its massive scale. Releasing alongside two commercial Hindi entertainers could impact its collections in North India.
At the same time, Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar are also big stars and their films do well if the word of mouth is positive. Prabhas cannot afford a three-way clash especially after Raja Saab. Also, Akshay’s film is produced by Dil Raju who has produced many movies with Prabhas. Will he clash with Prabhas?
For now, all three producers are holding on to their release dates.
But as December approaches, it will be interesting to see whether they choose to fight it out at the box office or whether one of them decides that avoiding the clash is the smarter move.
