One of the outrightly rejected films of Prabhas in the recent past has been Radhe Shyam. While poor handling and presentation of the film is on one side, watching Prabhas, who has a larger-than-life image, in a non-commercial love drama didn’t sit well with the wider audience.
Now, it is being heard that Prabhas’s film with Hanu Raghavapudi, which is yet to be announced is also going to be a love story. But it will also have a war action drama backdrop which would fuel the narrative, it seems.
What’s for certain is that Prabhas must avoid a love drama at any cost. The main reason here is that the audience are the least bit excited to watch him in a love drama at this point in time.
Particularly, after Salaar and Kalki, only larger-than-life characters are expected from Prabhas. He simply can’t be doing a feel-good love drama just for the sake of mixing things up.
Moreover, there have been complaints about Prabhas’s looks of late. This was overwhelmingly highlighted in the case of Radhe Shyam as well.
So now, Prabhas must be wary of his current larger than life image, watchful of the comments on his looks, and come up with a winning film. The onus is on Hanu to add multiple layers including larger-than-life appeal, action plot, and others, even if he keeps love drama at the core of the proceedings.
What is for certain is that Prabhas must avoid another Radhe Shyam at any cost henceforth.
