Prashanth Neel’s Costly Mistake?

Salaar-Prashanth-Neel

Salaar had a steady performance on its first two days, earning 31 crore net. The film is struggling in the big center multiplex business due to a clash with Dunki. It is aiming for a 50 crore nett weekend.

While Sunday is expected to show growth, Salaar’s limited single screens for mass audiences, due to the clash with Dunki, may hinder the expected increase. The film anticipates a strong weekend and Monday performance, aided by the holiday. The real test lies in sustaining momentum beyond that point.

The decision to delay Salaar’s release and clash with Dunki during Christmas seems like a big mistake. Director Prashanth Neel delayed the film for VFX and reshoots.

We don’t know how effective these changes were, but postponing Salaar from its original September 28 release has likely hurt its box office potential, especially in Hindi.

If Salaar had been released on September 28, it could have easily made 31 crores on the first day itself and also crossed 200 crores worldwide gross on its first day.

The clash is also proving to be costly in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and even in Hyderabad where Dunki is denting Salaar’s collections considerably.
