“OG Inspired by Ultra Disaster”: Director Trolled

R Chandru trolled for OG and Kabzaa comparison

Director R. Chandru, who made the much-criticised Kannada film Kabzaa, is once again in the spotlight this time for the wrong reasons. His recent claim that Pawan Kalyan’s OG was inspired by his film has sparked widespread trolling online.

In a YouTube interview, Chandru pointed out similarities between OG’s trailer and Kabzaa, saying, “Take a look at some scenes in the OG trailer. They are surely inspired by my film. We should all feel inspired by certain things. It’s something to be happy about.”

However, the internet didn’t agree. Social media users flooded platforms with harsh criticism, memes, and sarcastic comments, mocking his statement.

Fans were quick to remind him that Kabzaa was heavily trolled upon release for being a poor imitation of KGF, making his “inspiration” claim seem absurd.

Pawan Kalyan fans were especially brutal. One user wrote, “Kabzaa ruined the respect Kannada cinema got after Kantara and KGF. OTT platforms even refused Kannada films after that flop. And now he says OG was inspired by it!”

The irony of Chandru’s comments comes just as They Call Him OG is set for its OTT debut on Netflix on October 23, streaming in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Directed by Sujeeth, the action thriller starring Pawan Kalyan became his highest-grossing film in theatres. Fans are now eager to see how it performs on streaming.

For now, though, Chandru has unintentionally turned himself into the internet’s punchline. As many users joked, he “trolled himself” without even trying.
