‘Not OTT, Theatres Will Deliver Raja Saab’s Real Verdict’

Prabhas Raja Saab film theatrical verdict

The upcoming Sankranti release Raja Saab has been one of the most awaited films for Prabhas fans. Directed by Maruthi, this horror comedy is struggling to create the massive hype generally associated with Prabhas films. The promotional material released so far, including the trailer and songs, could not generate strong buzz or curiosity. Fans expect Raja Saab to be a huge success like Bollywood’s horror comedy Stree 2.

Recently, producer T G Vishwa Prasad confirmed that the film’s OTT deal has been finalized. According to him, the non-theatrical market is currently going through a downward phase. Despite this, he expressed strong confidence in the film’s theatrical performance.

He emphasized that box office success matters more than pre-release business figures. He also assured that Raja Saab has secured the highest possible non-theatrical value under current market conditions.

Vishwa Prasad also stated that comparisons with other films are unnecessary and reiterated that cinema moves in cycles. He firmly believes that theatres will deliver the real verdict for Raja Saab. With its release scheduled during the Sankranti holidays, the team expects strong footfalls and solid box office collections.

Almost two years ago, the producer said the film’s budget would be around Rs. 400 crores. Now, after several delays and almost three years of production, the actual cost is likely much higher.

The producer also revealed yesterday that the film did not get the expected price even for its OTT rights.

Since the producers are releasing the film on their own in the Nizam and overseas markets, the pressure is now on the theatrical run. For everyone involved to be in a safe position, the film will need to perform extremely well and collect close to Rs. 500 crores gross worldwide.

As part of promotions, the makers have planned a grand pre-release event on December 27, 2025.

Set for a pan India release on January 9 in multiple languages, Raja Saab aims to deliver an entertaining theatrical experience. Given Prabhas appeal in the Hindi belt, Telugu cinema lovers are also keenly watching whether the film can match the benchmark set by Stree 2 on pan-India level in the horror-comedy genre.
