Legendary director SS Rajamouli is all set to showcase his directorial charm once again on the big screen with his upcoming project SSMB 29.
The film will have Mahesh Babu in the lead role, with Priyanka Chopra playing the female lead.

While SSMB 29 has fans on the edges of their seats, Rajamouli’s long-awaited dream of bringing Mahabharata to the silver screen in his own style and grandeur is doubling that excitement.
While many sources have cited the director’s interest in the epic, one has summed the whole situation appropriately.

The source claims, “Raja has always wanted to do his version of the Mahabharata. In fact, he wanted to do the Mahabharata right after Baahubali…
…But he was advised against it, as it was seen to be too dangerous to go down that road at that time. So he did RRR instead. But now, it is do-or-die for him. He feels if he doesn’t get into it, he never will.”

The public seems to be over the moon with this news. Many believe that if anyone can do complete justice to Mahabharata, it is SS Rajamouli.
While other directors have a greater chance of being criticised by the public, Rajamouli has built a reputation around him that makes the people trust him to go ahead with his directorial vision on a grand scale.
Right now the director has his focus fixed on SSMB 29, which has just begun production and is expected to take almost 3 more years. The film has a massive budget of Rs.1000 crores and is going to be made in two parts.
So while the talks about Mahabharata seem promising, they are still 4 to 5 years away, if true at all.
