Initially, Ram Charan was in discussions for the project, but the role has now gone to Dhanush, creating a wave of discussion among fans and trade circles.
Naturally, this has led to one big question, did Ram Charan make a mistake by letting go of this project?
On paper, the project had strong potential. A mythological jungle drama is not a routine commercial space, and it could have offered Ram Charan a chance to explore a fresh genre. The combination itself was interesting. PS Mithran, known for his efficient storytelling, could have brought a different flavor, while Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s brand carries significant weight in the Hindi market.

A Tamil director at the helm often helps in strengthening reach in Tamil markets, something that was evident when Atlee directed Jawan. At the same time, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s name adds credibility and pull in the North. With Ram Charan’s popularity among Telugu audiences, the film could have turned into a strong multi-market project.
From a Telugu audience perspective too, this would have been an exciting collaboration. It had the scale, the names, and the novelty factor.
But timing seems to have played a role.
After Peddi, Ram Charan is expected to move into a project with Sukumar. However, industry buzz suggests that the script is still in development, and the film may take time to go on floors. In contrast, the Bhansali-Mithran project might have started earlier, giving it an advantage in terms of momentum. That is where fans feel this could be a missed chance.
