With just a month left for the theatrical clash between Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic, Ram Gopal Varma has shared his thoughts on how audience preferences could shift after their release. He believes this face-off could mark a turning point in mainstream cinema.
RGV referred to the clash as “Dhuroxic” in a detailed post on X. He stated that Toxic will focus heavily on style, with violence used mainly to express attitude. In contrast, he feels Dhurandhar 2 will rely more on emotional connection.
According to RGV, Toxic will present fantasy under the disguise of seriousness, aiming to create a strong visual impact. He added that the fate of the lead character in Dhurandhar 2 could take multiple directions, making it unpredictable.
He also spoke about the silent nature of the protagonist in Dhurandhar 2. RGV said this silence plays a crucial role in the narrative. He claimed Toxic will not follow this approach, as its lead character will not rely on shouting to convey intensity.
RGV further stated that the violence in Dhurandhar 2 will have purpose. He explained that it could be moral, psychological, or political in nature, rather than being used only for spectacle.
The director questioned whether audiences still want to watch heroes portrayed in familiar tropes. He referred to scenes involving smoking and slow-motion walks. RGV suggested this clash could signal the decline of hero worship and so-called bulletproof masculinity.
Early glimpses of both films indicate the presence of graphic content beyond what Indian cinema has usually shown. Many netizens believe Dhurandhar 2 currently enjoys more hype than Toxic.
This confidence comes from the performance of the first part, which has continued to record decent collections even after nearly a month in theatres. Social media discussions reflect stronger anticipation for the sequel.
Some viewers feel Toxic may struggle in North Indian markets unless it offers something distinct. Comparisons are already being made with other graphic films like Marco.
At present, Dhurandhar 2 is expected to open well due to the strong buzz. The fate of Toxic remains uncertain until reviews arrive on the first day. The industry now waits to see if RGV’s predictions turn out to be accurate.
