Kalki has finally revived Indian cinema by bringing the audience back to the theaters in big numbers. The film has registered what has been a fairly good-looking opening weekend at the global box office.
Coming to the first week box office performance, if we compare the numbers put up by RRR and Kalki, here is what it looks like.
As per the numbers in circulation, RRR grossed Rs 685 crore in the first week while Kalki has collected in the vicinity of Rs 625 crore.
The earth-shattering start that RRR got in the Telugu states is the point of difference here.
As is known, Kalki could beat the numbers of RRR both in North America and also North India. The point of difference has been the upside trend posted by RRR in the Telugu states where it went bonkers.
Kalki is already the highest grossing Indian film of 2024 and it is bound to touch the Rs 800 crore mark and its second weekend run will decide if it can go higher than that.
Back then, RRR opened up pan Indian box office after the Covid wave, and now, Kalki has done the honours after what has been an insanely dry run at the Indian box office over the last few months.
