Ideally, Pushpa 2 should have been heading for release on the 15th of August which is just a fortnight away. But with the postponement, the film has been pushed to December 6 which is still a fair way away.
Coming to the topic, the expectation was that Pushpa 2 would certainly release in the range of Rs 50 Cr nett in Hindi. This is in view of the sequel hype and the a good round of promotions by the team in the Hindi belt.
But with the postponement, the whole dynamic changes. The numbers that were projected earlier shall no longer be in effect for the film.
Even in the case of RRR, the postponement from January to March resulted in a solid drop in the opening day projections. The main reason is the delay dampening the buzz to an extent.
The same could be the case with Pushpa 2 in the all-important Hindi belt. Considering the established pattern that postponements always take a toll on the box office prospects, it shall be seen if the Rs 50 crore opening prospect for Pushpa 2 is a gone case.
Had Pushpa opened in the range of Rs 50 crore it would have been one of the biggest openers of all time and even touch the Rs 54 crore record held by KGF 2. But that might not be the case when the film releases in December.
