Salaar Madness: 4 Films Fighting

Prabhas SalaarPrabhas and Prashanth Neel’s Salaar has vacated the 28 September slot and this has now resulted in a madness of sorts with as many as 4 films fighting for this slot, which comes with a long weekend advantage.

The most prominent title on the list is Ram and Boyapati’s Skanda which is set to lock the 28 September date. Being a mass actioner, this film can make do with an extended weekend and that’s exactly what the makers are planning for.

Then there are two small films – Rules Rajann and Mad which are also releasing on the same day. And then comes Peddha Kapu 1 which is arriving on 1 September.

Well, for starters, a 4-film clash can do more bad than good for the lower-segment films. The general consensus is that the audience will watch a good film whenever it releases. They won’t watch it just for the sake that it releases during a festival or comes during an extended weekend.

So, instead of going for a head-on clash, films like Rules Rajann and Mad can go for alternative release dates like Sep 22, Oct 6, etc. This gives them better theater hold and also visibility.

For a family to watch a film in a multiplex, which is a preferred option now, it costs in the range of Rs 2000. In that case, there is no way most families go for multiple options in the same weekend. This also needs to be factored in by small films these days.
