Sankranthi 2027 is slowly turning into one of the most crowded festival seasons in recent Telugu cinema. Five films are already in the race, while several big-ticket projects could still join them.
The current lineup includes Venkatesh and Nandamuri Kalyan Ram’s film with Anil Ravipudi, Sree Vishnu’s film with Ram Abbaraju, Sharwanand’s George Krish directed by Sreenu Vaitla, Sai Durgha Tej’s Sambarala Yeti Gattu, and Prasanth Varma’s Mahakaali.
That is already a five-film race, but the list could get even bigger.
Chiranjeevi’s Mega 158, directed by Bobby and tentatively titled Kadiri Kakaji, is also working towards a Sankranthi release. With Chiranjeevi’s birthday coming up on August 22, more clarity on the film’s plans could emerge soon.
Balakrishna’s NBK111 is another potential entrant. The film was initially planned for release this year, but delays following Balakrishna’s injury could push it to Sankranthi 2027.
Then comes the wildcard, Prabhas’ Fauzi.
The Hanu Raghavapudi directorial is currently locked for December 3. However, the film is racing against a tight production and post-production schedule, so a postponement cannot be completely ruled out. If Fauzi misses December, Sankranthi could technically become an option.
However, considering the high stakes involved and the already packed festival lineup, Fauzi may move to February or March 2027 for a less crowded release window.
Interestingly, even without these potential additions, Sankranthi 2027 already has enough films to create serious competition for screens, audiences and theatrical revenue.
If Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna or even Fauzi eventually join the race, the festival could turn into a full-blown star war.
Of course, Telugu release dates are mostly unreliable until the films are ready. But if most of these films stick to their plans, Sankranthi 2027 could become one of the most crowded and competitive seasons in recent years.
