Sankranthi: Ravi Teja Made A Smart Escape?

Ravi Teja Eagle

This Sankranthi, there are multiple noted releases including Guntur Kaaram, HanuMan, Naa Saami Ranga, and Saindhav. Initially, even Ravi Teja’s Eagle was announced for release this Sankranthi, however it backed out at the last minute.

As it turns out, the decision to postpone and skip the Sankranthi release has worked well for Eagle. The film has made a smart escape by avoiding the clash with other films this Sankranthi.

With the weak recent track record of Ravi Teja, and the big budget involved, Eagle would have struggled big time at the box office this Sankranthi had the film failed to get a unanimously positive response.

On a pound-for-pound comparison, Eagle is close to Saindhav with both being actioners. We have seen what a weak word of mouth has done for Saindhav with the film being termed a complete a washout. Same could have been the case with Eagle also if it released this Sankranthi and failed to get a unanimous response.

Had Ravi Teja had an entertainer like Dhamaka, he might have risked the clash and arrive this Sankranthi, but that isn’t the case with Eagle which appears to be a slick actioner. So for whatever reason it might be for Eagle’s postponement from Sankranthi, it could be considered to be a wise move.

That said, we have to wait and see Eagle’s actual reception after the release to assess if it was clearly a smart escape.
