Prabhas and director Maruthi’s film Raja Saab turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments in recent Telugu cinema. The movie was promoted as a fun commercial entertainer that would present Prabhas in a lighter and more humorous role after a long time.
However, after release, the film failed to impress audiences and struggled badly at the box office. The movie quickly became troll material across social media. Many fans slammed the weak content, outdated comedy, and poor execution. Some even felt the film damaged Prabhas’ image more than Adipurush at a crucial stage in his career.
Now, comedian Saptagiri has unexpectedly landed in controversy because of comments he recently made during the press meet of his upcoming film Purushaha. During the interaction, Saptagiri said he was no longer getting opportunities in big hero films and was mostly appearing in smaller movies. Those comments immediately triggered angry reactions from Prabhas fans.
They questioned how Saptagiri could make such a statement after acting in The Raja Saab, which was mounted on a huge scale of Rs. 400 crores and featured one of the biggest stars in Indian cinema. Fans especially pointed to Saptagiri’s speech during the film’s pre-release event. At that event, he had even claimed that Raja Saab would not stop at Rs. 1000 crore and could go on to collect Rs. 2000 crore worldwide. Because of those earlier statements, many fans now feel Saptagiri is contradicting himself. Social media users started accusing him of indirectly treating The Raja Saab like an unimportant or “small” film after heavily praising it during promotions.
Many of them feel upset because they believe Saptagiri appeared to distance himself from Raja Saab after it flopped at the box office.
As the trolling continues, Saptagiri has not yet clarified whether his comments were misunderstood or taken out of context.
