The contemporary young actors may not know who Tulasi is, but for the yesteryear generation she is the cute girl who played a boy in K.Vishwanath’s ‘Shankarabharanam’. As a child artiste, she won three State awards back to back and she still holds that record.

But after she grew up and became a heroine, she didn’t get even one award. Talking about the selection of awards, Tulasi says that awards had to be bought giving something. So the genuineness of the selection process is a big question opines Tulasi.
The fact that talented actors like Radhika and Jayasudha didn’t get a national award is enough to say how faulty the selection process might be. She says she doesn’t believe in buying awards. A fantastic actor needs no awards to be recognized as a great performer.
