Box office clashes between two or more films are always a part and parcel of the film industry. But when this clash extends to superstar films, the results can be devastating as the massive stakes involved have a role to play.
In the case of Tamil stars Suriya and Rajinikanth, the same is happening as they are clashing at the box office this October. Both Kanguva and Vettaiyan(Rajini) are arriving in theaters on the 10th of October.

While Kanguva is a pan Indian film with Suriya in the central role, Vettaiyan is more of a regional film and it features Rajini.
The good thing for Rajini is that Vettaiyan is backed by Red Giant which is the dominant house in Tamil cinema. They can easily gain a fair share of theaters. This would eat into the prospects of Kanguva which is a pan Indian film and much bigger stakes are involved.

As far as the hype goes, Kanguva is miles ahead of Vettaiyan and this will reflect in the box office openings as well which is not good for the Rajini starrer.
However, the worst thing here is that both Kanguva and Vettaiyan will be on the losing end once they clash at the box office. Both the films will eat into each other’s prospects which isn’t a wise thing.

We shall see if this clash would actually go ahead or if the bigwigs of the Tamil cinema industry will come forth and mediate one of these films out of the clash.
