Thamma vs Lokah: Who Will Fans Pick as Real Hero?

Thamma vs Lokah superhero film debate

As the Diwali season begins, fans are eagerly waiting to see what Thamma brings to the big screen. With promotions in full swing, the team recently made statements that have sparked new comparisons with Lokah, another superhero film that released earlier.

In a recent interview, the Thamma team was asked how their film differs from Lokah. Actor Ayushmann Khurrana pointed out that Lokah was not released widely across India, while Thamma will have a nationwide release.

Producer Dinesh Vijan added that the main difference lies in the humour. According to him, Thamma focuses on situational comedy, where superheroes get caught in everyday situations rather than grand, cosmic ones.

He acknowledged Lokah’s impressive world-building and story but said both films differ in tone and character origins. His comments have now sparked debates among fans about which film feels more authentic.

Both Lokah and Thamma feature female superheroes, raising expectations of empowering and feminist storytelling. While many viewers praised Lokah for delivering that message, they believe Thamma may have missed the mark.

Fans feel that the Maddock Horror Universe, known for films like Stree and Stree 2, presents itself as feminist but often contradicts its own message through objectification and homophobic humour.

They have criticised the production house for over-sexualised item songs and jokes at the expense of transgender and queer communities. For them, the issue is not just about entertainment but about the message being sent.

While Lokah wasn’t perfect, audiences appreciated that it remained honest about its intent. Fans now feel Thamma risks falling into the same trap that has made Maddock’s so-called feminist universe seem hypocritical in recent years.
