Reports are emerging that Central Government is in favor of allowing the theaters to open from Unlock 5 which is in October. The Government has given an indication in that direction to the theaters in a recent review meeting. However, it will be a challenge for the theater owners to sustain the initial losses and ensure confidence in the people to change their thought processes.
The Theaters re-opening may happen in three phases, sources in the know say. In the first phase i.e., for Dussehra, only the Multiplexes will start. They will be screening Bollywood and Hollywood films. The second phase will be for Diwali or Christmas where in the major Single Screen Theaters will start openings.
These are the theaters whose owners will have deep pockets. Some Telugu movies, small ones may release in this phase. The final phase as things stand today may be for Sankranthi 2021 will see the opening of all the theaters across both the Telugu States. A similar model may be adopted in other states as well.
The process will happen only if there are no mishaps in these phases. The theaters opening in the first two phases have to spend big money in the name of Safety Measures and SOPs to be maintained in their premises. But then, there is no way out.
