Telugu cinema is one of the leading film industries across the country. The volume of films and the kind of revenue that they generate here is beyond ordinary.
But there is one particular problem that is troubling the Telugu film industry and it has something to do with the kind of talent that is generated here.
For instance, we have the case of a couple of talented young Telugu film makers who specialise in comedy films. One is Anudeep and other is Ritish Rana.
Anudeep made a sharp debut with Jathi Ratnalu, which turned out to be one of the better comedy films from Telugu Cinema in recent years. But the problem came with the continuation of this momentum as Anudeep failed to sustain the same. Films like Prince and Funky did not help the cost.
Now we have the case of Ritish Rana, who made a very good debut with Mathu Vadalara. This was a reasonably impressive film that had a comedy thriller approach. But again, the problem came with the continuation of this momentum.
Ritish later made Happy Birthday and Mathu Vadalara 2. The latter was a reasonably impressive film while the former bombed. Now, his Jetlee opened to mixed reviews.
It is interesting to note that several talented Telugu film makers have been good debut films but are faltering at upholding the momentum with their subsequent films. This is a serious market correction that is required in the Telugu film industry and it is the responsibility of the talented young filmmakers to make it happen.
