In Tollywood, announcing sequels during the climax of the first film has become a growing trend. This style gained momentum after the success of Baahubali 2. SS Rajamouli planned both parts of his epic in detail and shot them continuously, giving audiences a seamless and world-class experience. Pushpa 2 followed a similar path, keeping the momentum alive from its first part.
But not every sequel announcement comes with such planning. Many are declared only to create short-term buzz or cover up flaws in the first film. Some eventually go into production, while others never move forward.
Recently, titles like Teja Sajja’s Mirai 2, Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom 2, and Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu 2 were announced at the end of their first installments. Earlier, Devara 2, Kalki 2, and Salaar 2 also joined the list of highly anticipated sequels.
At the same time, some projects remain stuck. Fans are eager for Jai Hanuman, while films like Skanda 2 and Saindhav 2 may never take off.
Now, with today’s release of They Call Him OG, the makers confirmed OG 2 during the end credits. The sequel will continue the journey of Ojas Gambheera, played by Pawan Kalyan.
While some sequels genuinely expand stories loved by audiences, others fail to spark excitement. It remains to be seen which of these announced projects will move ahead and reach theatres.
