Toxic happens to be one of the big pan Indian attempts from South Indian cinema in recent times. The film has Yash in the lead role, and it was promoted as a wild action film.
Coming to the box office returns, it needs to be said that this film has started on a brilliant note on its opening day.
Despite the timid hype before the release and weak reviews, this film has started on a blockbuster note at the ticket counters. It did not post record, breaking numbers like Yash’s earlier KGF 2 but it started well nevertheless.
The film has reportedly collected in the vicinity of ₹120 crore globally. The major majority of this came from the Hindi built, where the film was able to reportedly collect around ₹60 crore gross.
The Telugu states contributed significantly with ₹17 crore added to the overall revenue. This is nearly close to the Kannada market which yielded ₹23 crore gross.
These are pretty strong numbers for a film that carried very little hype before the release and almost entirely depended on Yash, who himself had KGF marketing to make hay.
But considering the weak reviews, it has to be seen while the film would end up ultimately at the ticket counter as the opening weekend is going to play a crucial role.
There are conservative estimates that the film might end up in the bracket of ₹300 to ₹350 crore in full run.
