The promotional teaser for Toxic, titled “Ladies & Ladies,” is facing heavy social media criticism right after its release. While it was meant to introduce a star-studded female cast including Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, and Huma Qureshi, the adult-themed content sparked a major backlash on platforms like X.
Online users have criticized the style of the teaser, with many comparing its sexualized tone to low-quality adult films instead of a high-end commercial movie.
The main issue for many is that the teaser feels like it objectifies women rather than empowering them. Even though the actresses are shown as tough characters in a gritty world, viewers feel the dialogue and camera work are regressive.
Critics also pointed out that despite the title “Ladies,” the focus remains on glorifying Yash’s character. This has left the female leads with very little screen time that feels hyper-sexualized. Many fans who expected a sophisticated gangster story from director Geetu Mohandas are feeling let down.
The negative reaction shows a gap between the marketing team’s attempt to shock people and what modern audiences actually want. Many are calling the “edgy” style hollow and unnecessary.
With the film set for a global theatrical release next month in August 2026, the production team now has to work hard to change public opinion and show that the movie has real quality.
