AK47: Trivikram & Naga Vamsi Fumble Golden Dasara Window

Venkatesh AK47 Dasara Release Postponed

Venkatesh’s much-hyped Aadarsha Kutumbam AK 47, directed by Trivikram, has been indefinitely postponed. Producer Naga Vamsi announced the decision at a press meet, triggering fresh controversy around the team’s planning and handling of the film.

The Venkatesh-Trivikram combination carries a strong legacy, with classics like Nuvvu Naaku Nachav and Malliswari. Naturally, expectations were high when they announced this project. However, the film has struggled to generate the expected buzz.

Poor planning appears to be one of the biggest reasons. There have been rumors that Trivikram kept changing the script and screenplay and carried out reshoots after plagiarism allegations arose over similarities with other films like Blast. Venkatesh had reportedly asked the team to finish the shoot by June, but the team kept dragging it out. Even now, post-production work remains incomplete, which has also contributed to the postponement.

The teaser released recently failed to show Trivikram’s signature style. The song Narayanamma received mixed reactions and failed to generate any buzz for the film.

The film was originally planned for a summer 2026 release. It then missed October 2 before Naga Vamsi confidently announced October 9 as the final date. That commitment has now been broken too. Missing a release date once is understandable, but when it happens repeatedly, the team deserves to be called out.

Repeated delays have drained audience excitement. Venkatesh’s fans, usually known for their patience, are now expressing anger on social media. Other films that adjusted their schedules around October 9 are also facing complications.

While Trivikram may be responsible for the creative delays, Naga Vamsi is facing much of the backlash over the poor planning. Given his experience as a producer, repeatedly announcing dates and then missing them raises serious questions.

The biggest concern is the loss of the Dasara release window. Festive holidays can give films a massive box-office advantage by bringing more families to theatres. The Sankranti holiday season played a crucial role in the success of Venkatesh’s Sankranthiki Vasthunam, helping it gross around Rs. 300 crores worldwide. Without that advantage, reaching even Rs. 200 crores might have been difficult.

If AK 47 misses Dasara, it could lose a crucial opportunity to maximise its box-office potential. With the hype already weakening, missing the festive window could make matters worse.

It is disappointing to see a film that generated tremendous excitement at announcement now struggling to maintain even basic audience interest.
