After the debacle of Bhola Shankar, Chiranjeevi took a break of more than two years. Very few expected him to make such a powerful comeback with Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu. While there was confidence that director Anil Ravipudi would present Chiranjeevi in a strong commercial format, almost no one anticipated the scale at which the comeback film would rewrite box office records.
For six straight days, theatres have witnessed unprecedented celebrations, with packed houses. The response has been so overwhelming that even trade analysts are unable to gauge the final numbers.
However, this massive success brings with it a new kind of pressure. Chiranjeevi’s next film, Vishwambhara, is already completed and awaiting release, but the lack of updates from UV Creations has raised serious doubts.
The promotional material so far has not helped matters either. The first teaser faced outright negative reactions, while the second teaser received a dull response. Director Vassishta has reportedly been working on visual effects for over a year, yet the output still does not appear fully polished. Earlier, the makers claimed they skipped a Sankranthi release to avoid clashing with Game Changer, but even after a year, Vishwambhara remains without a clear release plan.
The biggest challenge now is sustaining the momentum created by Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu. Chiranjeevi cannot afford a follow up that dilutes the impact of his historic comeback. Beyond fan expectations, he must also reassure trade circles that Vishwambhara justifies its massive budget with good content.
The team reportedly plans to announce the release date only after finalizing the visual effects. With most prime theatrical slots already booked until April, the pressure is now on Chiranjeevi to deliver at least a success if not a blockbuster. If the makers avoid further delays and lock a summer release with exciting promotions, Vishwambhara could still turn a success on the Megastar’s current peak momentum. A disaster, however, would be a massive setback at this stage for Chiru.
