After Chiranjeevi made his comeback, one of the films that created hype right from the announcement stage was Vishwambhara. Director Vassishta, who made a strong debut with the blockbuster Bimbisara, came on board. The film promised a fantasy storyline in the vein of classics like Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari. It went on floors under UV Creations with a budget reportedly exceeding Rs. 200 crore.
However, once the teaser was released, the hype dropped to zero and even hardcore Mega fans lost interest. Heavy trolling over the teaser visuals put the team under pressure. As a result, the makers postponed the release and returned to work extensively on the VFX.
The film, which was initially planned for Sankranti 2025, missed that window and then failed to arrive even this Sankranti in 2026. The team postponed it to summer, but fans remain uncertain whether it will be released even then. Regaining hype for a long-delayed film is almost impossible.
In this context, the strong box office performance of Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu has come as a massive relief for the Vishwambhara team. Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu began much later but released earlier and is now racing toward becoming a huge hit in Chiranjeevi’s career. At one point, even this film faced trolling after its songs and teaser came out. If it had failed, Chiranjeevi’s market, already affected by Bhola Shankar, would have taken a further hit. That would have made selling Vishwambhara extremely difficult and risky.
Now, the situation has changed to some extent. With Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu heading toward blockbuster status, buyers are once again witnessing Chiranjeevi’s box office power. This renewed confidence makes it easier to package and sell Vishwambhara. If the team works carefully, improves the output, and delivers better visuals, the film still has the potential to become another success in Chiranjeevi’s career.
However, if Vishwambhara fails at the box office, Chiranjeevi will move on as if the film never existed. For director Vassishta, though, it would be a major dent to his career.
