One of the costliest films in Telugu cinema is currently under production in the form of Vishwambhara. The film has Mega Chiranjeevi in the lead role and was originally expected to release in theatres already.
However, the extreme delay in production and several complaints about the quality of the post-production work have reportedly pushed the film into an indefinite shelving phase.
UV Creations has spent more than Rs 100 crore on this fantasy project. Despite the huge investment, the film has failed to create strong momentum ahead of its release. There is currently very little discussion about Vishwambhara on social media.
Generally, when a big-budget film is made with a star like Chiranjeevi, it naturally creates significant buzz. However, the poorly received teaser earlier appears to have affected the film’s prospects and overall discussion.
Chiranjeevi has already moved on to other projects with Bobby and others. He has also lined up a film with director Srikanth after Paradise and is expected to continue working on these projects.
Meanwhile, the latest developments suggest that Director Vashishta has also moved on. He is reportedly preparing a script for Nandamuri Mokshagna, adding to speculation about the future of Vishwambhara.
With several key names associated with the project now focusing on other commitments, it increasingly appears that Vishwambhara has been shelved indefinitely. For now, there is little movement around the film and the possibility of an immediate revival looks very bleak.
The makers may eventually try to plan a release depending on the situation in the future. However, bringing Vishwambhara back into active production and preparing it for release could prove to be a difficult process.
