Megastar Chiranjeevi‘s long-delayed fantasy action film Vishwambhara is finally showing signs of moving towards release. Directed by Vassishta, the film was originally scheduled for release in January last year. However, repeated delays, mainly due to extensive VFX work, pushed the project back by almost two years.
For the past few weeks, industry buzz has suggested that Vishwambhara is targeting an October 16 theatrical release. However, the makers have not officially confirmed the date, leaving fans waiting.
Now, the latest reports suggest that an announcement may not be far away.
According to industry buzz, the team is planning to officially announce the release date on August 22, which is Chiranjeevi’s birthday. The makers are reportedly waiting to complete the remaining VFX work before making the announcement. If everything goes as planned, Chiranjeevi’s birthday could finally bring clarity for fans who have been frustrated by the delays.
But one big question still remains.
Can Vishwambhara recover from the damage caused by its teaser?
When the teaser was released, it received heavy trolling for its poor visual effects. Instead of increasing excitement, it disappointed many fans and killed the film’s hype. The negative response reportedly forced the makers to spend more time improving the VFX, leading to further delays. Nearly two years of postponements have made it difficult to maintain the excitement that existed when the project was first announced.
For now, the October 16 release date is still not official. But if the latest reports are true, the makers are expected to end months of speculation on August 22 by announcing the release date.
That announcement, however, will only be the first step. The bigger challenge for Vishwambhara will be to win back the audience’s confidence and rebuild the hype that was lost after the teaser.
