Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer is creating quite a sensation at the box office. Despite mixed talk, the film is performing well in domestic and overseas markets.
In the US, Jailer has already crossed $1 Million and is racing towards the $1.5 Million mark. It has already beaten Vijay’s Varisu lifetime $1,141,590 gross in the USA even before Day 1 is over. It has also left Ajith’s Thunivu way behind.
With Jailer, Rajinikanth has 9 Million dollar moves, Vijay has 6, whereas Ajith has only one. Rajinikanth also becomes the Tamil hero with the highest number of Million dollar movies and the second South Indian hero after Mahesh Babu with the highest Million Dollar movies.
In Australia also, Jailer (A$263,000} is doing much better than Varisu (A$60,500) and Thunivu (A$22,350), day-1 gross.
With a mid-film like Jailer, which is a decent one-time-watch movie, Rajinikanth is creating such records. If director Nelson had taken care of some episodes in the second half, then Jailer’s box office business would have gone to the next level in the long run.
It just goes on to prove that Superstar Rajinikanth is still way ahead of Thalas and Thalapathys in terms of box office.
