The battle between Prabhas’ Salaar and Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki is getting fierce and ugly with each passing minute.
According to a source in the exhibition sector, Team Dunki is aggressively seeking exclusivity in single screens, citing Shah Rukh Khan’s two Rs. 500 crore films)Pathaan and Jawan) in 2023.
There are rumors that single screens in the North have agreed to give 100% showcasing to Dunki, with many already opening bookings without sharing shows with Salaar in major cities like Jaipur, where Salaar is limited to multiplexes.
Analyzing the situation, it appears Salaar could have avoided the clash, preventing the loss of significant screens to Dunki.
Salaar, being a front-loaded action film ideal for single screens in mass belts, could have benefited from choosing a different date. However, Salaar’s release on December 22, as producer Vijay Kiragandur admitted, was due to astrological reasons.
Recent reports suggest no credible information indicating exclusive allocation of single screens to Dunki and none to Salaar. Both films are expected to have a fair distribution in theaters.
Nevertheless, Salaar might still face substantial revenue loss due to fewer single screens. The decision to release on December 22 for astrological reasons remains to be seen if it was a wise choice.
