Where Does Nani Stand With V’s OTT Release?

Where-Does-Nani-Stand-With-V’s-OTT-ReleaseIn a few hours from now, we will be looking at the first biggie from Telugu cinema to come out on OTT. We can already feel the difference between V and a few other low key Telugu releases on various platforms. While it is good for TFI, in general, where does it put Nani in the second league of stars?

V is the big-ticket Nani movie coming after a brief gap. His last few films were Gangleader, Jersey, Devadas and Krishnarjuna Yuddham. As one can see, they were all underperformers (Jersey, considering the talk) at the box office. Incidentally, the previous big success from the star was Middle Class Abbayi which happens to be a Dil Raju production.

In short, V is that biggie for Nani which was supposed to give a big push to Nani in his standing (at the top) in the second league. The final run would always depend on the content, but the openings were where it was bound to score. It would have widened the gap between him and the rest of the competitors. Now, it is a ‘pause’ in his ‘standing’.

Unfortunately, with the coronavirus pandemic, all of it has gone for a toss. The game-changer and landmark film in the career of Natural Star Nani is doing the same but in an unexpected way.

Nani has assured that his next films would arrive theatrically. It means business usual for the star. They are Tuck Jagadish and Shyam Singha Roy. But, these movies on the face of it lack the biggie quality of a V. It would mean, Nani would be resuming things from Gangleader stage again. The impact that V should have had with a theatrical release is lost. It is here that Nani will get a minor setback.

The good news is that Nani is churning out movies at a regular pace without much break. Therefore, he could have another ‘V’ lined up soon. Until then, one can only imagine how things would have been if V had a proper release. Of course, it would be that way only if V gets a positive reception upon its release.
