M9 News journalist Nishant sat down with producer Rajiv Reddy ahead of the September 5 release of Ghaati, starring Anushka Shetty. The producer appeared upbeat about the film and expressed confidence that it will strike big at the box office.
“Krish is an avid reader. He came up with the idea of Ghaati and Anushka was the obvious choice. We needed someone with commanding influence to pull off the action and she was the perfect fit,” Rajiv Reddy explained.
When asked about why Anushka has not been coming out to promote her films these days, Rajiv Reddy responded with a diplomatic answer:
“Anushka has an unbelievable connect with the audience. Despite the gap, people own her. We were shooting at the Odisha border, and thought it would be smooth since it was an interior area. But every day, over a thousand people turned up just to see her.”
The producer also opened up about the challenges currently facing the film industry, including the need to cut production costs, reduce wastage, and why OTT platforms should not be blamed entirely for the crisis.
He candidly admitted that while Krish and First Frame Entertainment have been consistent with “decent films,” they are still yet to cross into the zone of critical acclaim or massive commercial success. “We believe our time has started now with Ghaati,” he added.
