Will Ram Change Strategy For Skanda?

Ram Pothineni SkandaRam Pothineni’s last film, The Warriorr, avoided USA premieres and opted for few delayed shows.

The makers were of the opinion that the film is not overseas-friendly and caters to the mass audience. So, to avoid negative talk from the US, they avoided the USA premieres.

This strategy backfired, as the film turned out to be a disaster right from the first show in India, and because of no premieres, the makers lost a substantial amount of revenue in the US as well.

Now, his upcoming film, Skanda, is releasing on a never-before-scale in Ram’s career in the US. The film will be released in over 350 locations in the US. There are some unconfirmed reports that Skanda will also follow a similar strategy of not having early premiers in the USA, just like The Warriorr.

Skanda is a front-loaded mass film that mainly caters to the masses and not classes. There is a notion in the industry that such films usually don’t generate positive talk and have a negative effect on the collections in India.

But Skanda has many more positives on its side like Boyapati Sreenu coming after Akhanda and well-made mass films doing well in the US these days.

So we have to see if Skanda goes for late premieres or if it will be the usual early premieres that most Telugu films are released.
