The Polavaram project, which is one of the major multi-purpose irrigation projects in the country, has been delayed for the last few years under the governance of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Union Minister Amit Shah promised AP people that if they elected the alliance of BJP-TDP-JSP, they would complete the project within a couple of years.
Speaking at the Dharmavaram public meeting today, Shah termed the Polavaram Project as the lifeline of Andhra Pradesh. He emphasized that it is being delayed due to corruption by the Jagan’s government.
“If you bring Chandrababu back in power in the state and Narendra Modi in the centre, we promise you to finish the project and deliver its water to farmers in just two years,” promised Shah.
He lauded Chandrababu for developing Andhra Pradesh before and after the bifurcation. He said that Jagan derailed the development done by Chandrababu in Andhra Pradesh.
Shah stated that under Jagan’s rule, investments have been stopped, development has come to zero and unemployment has risen to higher levels.
He criticized Jagan for making debts of Rs. 13.50 lakh crores in his tenure. “On one side, there is no development in infrastructure but on the other side, there is a severe rise in land mafia in the state,” he added.
Shah pointed out that Jagan had pledged to ban alcohol from the state. However, he remarked that instead of fulfilling this promise, Jagan initiated a liquor syndicate within Andhra Pradesh.
