The investigation into the ‘Aadudham Andhra’ scam during the YSRCP regime was completed earlier this month. Vigilance Department officials submitted a detailed report to the DGP.
SAAP Chairman Ravi Naidu confirmed that action will be taken against those involved in the ‘Aadudaam Andhra’ corruption case by September 5. He stated that the government has already received the vigilance report and assured strict action against all culprits.
He also mentioned that no one will be spared and that action will be taken without any gender discrimination. This remark has fuelled speculation that Roja‘s arrest could be imminent.
The allegations state that large-scale corruption occurred in the ‘Aadudham Andhra‘ programme, which was implemented by the YSRCP government with a budget of Rs. 119 crore.
The controversy gained momentum after several sportspersons and association representatives accused the former SAAP leadership of financial irregularities.
The complaints included mismanagement in prize money distribution and the supply of substandard sports kits. The issue escalated when RD Prasad, a former national Kabaddi player and Atya-Patya Association CEO, filed a complaint with the Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (APCID).
Decision-making power in ‘Aadudham Andhra’ rested with then Sports Minister Roja and the then SAAP Chairman Byreddy Siddharth Reddy.
Roja is reportedly hopeful of escaping arrest, expecting leniency due to her gender. However, the SAAP Chairman’s recent remarks suggest otherwise.
Over the past five years, Roja was often criticised as a motormouth, and she seems to be returning to that image. Unlike leaders like Kodali Nani and Vallabhaneni Vamsi who remain low-profile, Roja continues to stay defiant.
Supporters of TDP and Janasena are urging their leadership not to show mercy to Roja in this matter.
