Prime Accused in the assasination attack on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu in 2003, Deepak alias Venkateswara Rao was arrested by Kolkata Police. Venkateswara Rao is the right hand of Maoist Kingpin Kishanji. He is also wanted in an attack on former Chief Minister Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy. Andhra Pradesh police managed to nab him with the help of Kolkata Police. AP Police have brought him to Nellore via Chennai in a special flight. He is expected to be produced in a local court on Monday.
Chandrababu Naidu had a miraculous escape with minor injuries while his convoy was attacked by Maoists by planting a land mine at Alipir when Naidu was on his way to Tirumala to present Pattu vasthrams as a part of the then Brahmotsvam festival at Tirumala. The case saw no progress once Chandra Babu was dethroned and now with the arrest of the prime accused, the case is expected to be solved very soon.
