The state cabinet will meet on March 28 to pass a resolution to confirm Amaravati as the official capital of Andhra Pradesh. A special meeting is being organized which will see the presence of TDP, BJP and Jana Sena leaders. Once the AP government passes the resolution, it will be sent to the Union Cabinet and the Parliament. The Budget session of Parliament is on and the Chandrababu government wants to put pressure on Union government to pass the bill before the session ends.
Some time back, it was said that the Amaravati bill would be passed during the Budget Session as the law and home ministries cleared the bill to be tabled in Parliament.
However, due to the current geo-political situation, the Center seems to have forgotten the bill. This has put pressure on Chandrababu government as formalizing Amaravati as the only capital of Andhra Pradesh will resolve many legal and political tangles. It will mean more and quicker investments in Amaravati. It will also help in procuring funds for development.
The citizens of Andhra Pradesh are eagerly waiting for the Bill and hope the special meeting will push things forward.
