First it was the local journalists, then it had been the National media, next it was Union Minister Mr.Javadekar and right after it had been Justice Markandey Katju who lashed out on KCR for his comments on media and threatening media to bury 10 km deep in the earth if they disrespect Telangana sentiments and people. He even threatened to cut the throats of media persons.
Latest, an American media watch dog condemned the statements of KCR and the detention of journalists in the newly formed State. The media watch dog even asked Mr.Chandra Sekhar Rao to stop using such a language kindling hate against press. Committee to Protect Journalists(CPJ) Deputy Director Robert Mahoney said in a statement, “We condemn the arrests of journalists and threats against the press.”
This American watch dog is an independent, non-profit organisation which works in New York to safeguard the interests of the press worldwide. Now the issue of threatening press isn’t limited to just one State or Nation. CM’s statements on media are gaining International importance gradually. This isn’t going to do any good to any newly formed State in the long run because it is going to weaken the ties of the State with rest of the world.
