Rs 1300 Cr Air Taxis Unit To Be Set Up in Anantapur

The Sky Factory has announced that an electric air taxis manufacturing unit will be set up in Anantapur at a cost of Rs 1300 crore. The MoU was signed between Accel-funded Sarla Aviation and the Andhra Pradesh Airport Development Corporation Limited during the Investment Summit held in Vizag. The project aims to develop India’s first giga scale cluster.

In the first phase, Rs 330 crore will be invested to build a manufacturing and testing facility across 150 acres in Thimmasamudram, Kalyanadurg mandal. The second phase will expand operations to 350 acres. By 2027, the facility is expected to provide jobs to 180 people. The company plans to manufacture 1000 air taxis per year at the Anantapur unit.

Known as The Sky Factory, this project is one of the most ambitious eVTOL ventures globally. The Anantapur facility will follow models inspired by advanced air mobility hubs in California and Munich. The initiative aims to push India into the next generation of aviation.

The Andhra Pradesh government, through APADCL, will act as a strategic facilitator to fast track the project and prepare the ecosystem. With this unit, Andhra Pradesh moves closer to its goal of becoming India’s leader in advanced manufacturing, aerospace innovation and green mobility technologies.
