The Forest Cover in the country has increased by 0.54% in the last three years. Forests form for a total of 21.34% of the Land in the country. The forest cover in Andhra Pradesh increased by 0.27% during this time thanks to the government’s Neeru Chettu.

But then, in Telangana, the forest cover is on a decline. During the same period, the forest cover in the newest state of the country decreased by 0.78%. That indicates that the Haritha Haram scheme of Telangana is not yielding good results.
As a whole, forest cover is 18.7% of the total land in Telangana while in Andhra Pradesh, it is 15.2% of the total land. In the wake of serious problems due to Global Warming, its high time the state governments pull up their socks and do their part in increasing the forest cover.
