AP Government gears up to move to Temp Capital

Andhra Pradesh government is gearing up to move some of its administration to the Temporary Capital, Vijayawada from October 2nd. 25 Departments including Transport, irrigation, fisheries and animal husbandry departments as well as the directorate of town planning etc will be moved to Medha Towers opposite Gannavaram Airport, Vijayawada. These departments will operate from Medha towers for the next 3-4 years till permanent structures are built in the permanent capital.

Already two AP ministers, Irrigation Minister Devineni Uma and Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas shifted their office to Vijayawada. It is known that Chandra Babu Naidu has decided that all the departments which do not need to be operated from Hyderabad should be located to Vijayawada, the temporary capital. However the heads of the departments will remain in Hyderabad since they have to coordinate with Telangana State departments during the period of common capital, Hyderabad. Medha Towers was constructed during previous government regime to house IT companies. Only 20000 sq feet of the total 200000 sq feet area is occupied in this towers.
